Then a machinist/builder who did sprint car motors showed me its better to put the cam bearing hole at about 10-11 o'clock (block in the upright position) so that the hole is at the leading edge of the camshaft. WebDec 3, 2006 · You don't have to worry about aligning the oil holes since a SBC uses a groove behind the bearing. The best place for the hole in the bearing is the 4 o'clock position as viewed from the front of the block, but any position will work.
