WebOct 1, 2024 · Also known as tampography or tampo printing, pad printing requires four elements: pad, cup or doctor blade, ink, and printing plate (cliché). Like intaglio printing, pad printing requires an etched or engraved plate to be filled with ink. Excess ink is then removed from the top of the plate with a blade or cup. WebEtching means imprinting an image on a piece of metal using acid. The resulting metal plate is used for printing by spreading ink across it and pressing it against paper. First, the artist covers the metal surface with acid repellent. Then, they carve the design with an etching needle, which removes those parts of the repellent.
