WebMar 7, 2024 · The department conducts four oil and gas lease sales each year, in March, June, September, and December. Tracts can be nominated by an individual or company, or placed in the sale by the Department. The vast majority of tracts are from direct nominations received from individuals or companies. WebDNRC believes that many nonexclusive situations occur on private grazing leases as well. For example, if the surface owner who has leased out grazing does not have the mineral rights to that property, mineral development may occur. DNRC is also aware that landowners may lease grazing to one individual and outfitting to another.
