I took off for 3 days exploring the Red Mountain area. The initial part of the trail is joined with the Buck Creek trail and is a throughway over an old mining road. After 1.5 miles, the trials split and I continued up the Chiwawa River along the road. The trail is overgrown in places but very passable with a slow, steady way up.
